The branches are not generally on the tourist itinerary, although they traverse green and pleasant land. The double track route to Southend retains most of its original buildings, while the single Crouch Valley Line has kept only some of them, but it can never loose the impressive vistas of the river itself. A relaxing journey to be savoured.
