The line will interest most people as it closed early and ran through superb scenery. It began in the Dove Valley and ran through the south of the Peak District.

The trains varied greatly and many carried much limestone. Walkers can now use the Tissington Trail to enjoy much of the route herein.

'A well produced account of an interesting line, the majority of which still sees use in one form or another.'
(Railway Observer, April 2020, Vol.90, No.1094)

'Regular visitors and trail users will delight in the unrivalled series of archive photographs, large scale OS plans and historic timetables...  Superb country branch profile.'
(Heritage Railway, Issue 260,
25 October-21 November 2019)

'Some of the Peak District's lost railway stations have been brought back to life in a stunning new photographic album.'
(Buxton Advertiser, 24 October 2019)

'This is a well-researched book about another rural route that seems to have spent most of its relatively short life half asleep.'
(Steam World, Issue 389, November 2019)

Review covering both Uttoxeter to Buxton and Buxton to Stockport:
'The 96 pages contain 120 black and white photographs taken at different times in the line's history together with copies of Railway Clearing House maps, timetables, facsimiles of tickets and a route elevation plan. The photogaphs, which come from widely sourced collections, are clearly captioned and detailed.'
(National Railway Museum Review, No.170, Winter 2010/2020)

[Review on Scunthorpe to Doncaster, Uttoxeter to Buxton and Cromford & High Peak]
'The quality inherent in this encyclopaedic series does not diminish as the new titles continue to appear and these three are no exception. That they are worth buying if you have an interest in the subject, or the specific geographic area covered, hardly needs to be said. The look and feel of each book is similar, like wearing your most comfortable pair of slippers.'
(John New – SLS Journal, November/December 2019, no. 920, vol. 95)
